Position Overview

 Our client, a flower farm in Thika is seeking to onboard an Accountant.

The accountant will be responsible for overseeing the financial activities of the farm, ensuring accurate financial records, and supporting the farm’s financial planning and budgeting. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices

Key Responsibilities:

1.      Financial Recordkeeping:

  • Maintain accurate financial records, including sales, expenses, payroll, and farm-related costs.

  • Ensure all transactions are recorded in compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

  • Process invoices and payments to suppliers and vendors.

2.      Payroll Processing:

  • Oversee the preparation and processing of payroll for farm employees.

  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and timely submission of statutory deductions

3.      Tax Preparation & Compliance:

  • Prepare and submit tax filings in accordance with tax regulations.

  • Stay updated on changes to tax laws affecting the flower farm industry.

4.      Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.

  • Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations for improvement.

5.      Audit Support:

  • Assist with internal and external audits as required.

  • Ensure proper documentation and support for audit procedures.

6.      Cash Flow Management:

  • Monitor cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for daily operations.

  • Manage bank reconciliations and ensure timely payments to creditors.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Proven experience as an accountant or in a similar financial role, preferably in agriculture or farming.

  • Strong knowledge of accounting software (QuickBooks).

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial management tools.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.

  • Knowledge of payroll processing and tax compliance.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
