About the role:
We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer (Infrastructure) to join our client’s talented team in San Francisco. This role is focused on designing and developing scalable, maintainable infrastructure for integrating sensors, actuators, compute, and user interfaces in their next-gen home security products. The ideal candidate is passionate about developing robust systems that support the integration of software with hardware, while ensuring reliability, security, and performance. This is a full-time, on-site role based in San Francisco, where you’ll have the opportunity to work on high-impact, cutting-edge technologies in the robotics and home security space.
Responsibilities:
Design & Integration: Design interfaces and data flows between on-premise, edge, and cloud applications, ensuring streamlined setup, security, and performance.
System Architecture: Architect the integration of backend perception with customer interfaces and remote monitoring systems.
Tool Selection & Evaluation: Evaluate and select tools for integrating software with hardware, covering compute, firmware, schema design, and data flow.
System Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Monitor system performance, analyze logs, and resolve integration issues to maintain operational efficiency.
CI/CD & Updates: Design scalable Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and Over-the-Air (OTA) update systems for software.
Data Engineering & ML: Address data engineering challenges, including the retraining of machine learning models and integration of data pipelines.
Security Collaboration: Work with engineering teams to develop security policies, tools, and frameworks for incident response.
Requirements:
8+ years of experience developing software for hardware products, particularly in safety-critical environments.
Strong background in working with complex software systems that support product loads, particularly those that involve both hardware and software integration.
Expertise in AWS cloud services, with proficiency in tools like Terraform and CloudFormation for infrastructure as code.
Experience in building reproducible data pipelines and supporting machine learning workflows.
Pragmatic approach to security, with hands-on experience in incrementally improving system security.
Experience with deep learning frameworks like Pytorch or TensorFlow is a plus, but not required. modern deep learning frameworks.
