We are currently seeking an experienced and driven Sales Manager to lead the sales department. This role is integral to our client's organization's success, focusing on strategic sales management, client relations, and the overall growth of our business.

Job Summary: The Sales Manager will be responsible for overseeing all sales operations, ensuring that the sales strategies align with the company’s objectives and driving business growth. This role requires a proactive leader with a deep understanding of the market, strong sales acumen, and the ability to inspire and manage a sales team. The Sales Manager will develop and implement sales strategies, manage client relationships, optimize sales processes, and lead a team of safari planners. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Sales Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining and expanding the company’s market presence.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Sales Planning:

    • Collaborate with Directors to develop and execute a strategic business plan aimed at expanding the customer base.

    • Analyze market trends and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities and adjust strategies accordingly.

    • Enhance brand visibility and reputation through the development and execution of targeted marketing campaigns.

    • Identify field-based opportunities and challenges to refine sales strategies and drive growth.

  2. Procedures & Standards:

    • Uphold and enforce company standards for customer service and policy compliance across the sales department.

    • Ensure the accurate handover of safari bookings to facilitate efficient resource planning and execution.

    • Develop, review, and maintain all procedures related to safari sales, ensuring consistent application across the department.

    • Monitor industry regulations and adjust sales policies as needed to ensure compliance.

  3. Sales Management and Business Development:

    • Drive revenue growth through targeted sales initiatives and innovative business development strategies.

    • Evaluate sales performance, establish realistic annual forecasts, and set sales targets to meet revenue goals.

    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities and partnerships to expand the company’s market share.

    • Plan and execute high-profile corporate meetings and events to promote the company’s services.

  4. Client Services:

    • Oversee client interactions, ensuring a high level of satisfaction throughout the safari experience.

    • Collaborate with the Operations team to support clients during safaris, resolving any issues promptly.

    • Develop programs to enhance customer loyalty and retention, integrating corporate social responsibility initiatives into the sales strategy.

    • Engage in fieldwork, including client visits and sales presentations, to support the sales team and drive results.

  5. Travel Regulations and Agent Relations:

    • Stay updated on travel requirements and regulations across the East African region, particularly Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Rwanda.

    • Maintain strong relationships with agents through consistent communication and by providing relevant company updates.

    • Promote the company’s camps and services to local Tour Operators, ensuring current and compelling information is provided.

  6. Sales Pricing and Financial Oversight:

    • Review and negotiate annual sales rates to ensure competitiveness and profitability.

    • Oversee discretionary fund management in accordance with company policies.

    • Authorize supplier requisitions and payments, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to budgetary constraints.

  7. Reporting and Analysis:

    • Prepare and present regular sales reports and analyses to track performance and inform strategic decision-making.

    • Utilize data-driven insights to optimize sales processes and outcomes, driving continuous improvement.

  8. Team Leadership:

    • Manage and lead the sales department, including the supervision and development of a team of safari planners and assistants.

    • Promote sustainable and ethical practices within the sales team and the broader organization.

    • Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching and mentoring, and develop training programs to enhance team capabilities.

    • Foster a collaborative, high-energy, and results-driven work environment within the department.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in sales management, preferably within the tours, travel, or hospitality industry.

  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire a diverse sales team, with strong strategic planning and business development skills.

  • Sales Acumen: Expertise in sales strategy development, customer relationship management, and market analysis.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a clear and fluent command of English.

  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the travel and hospitality industry, particularly within the East African region.
